The, best fish story we ever heard was told by an old salt. He said he was once fishing on a coral island m tho South Seas, when ho got a most tremendous bite. With the assistance of other men, he attached the line to a big palm tree which was rooted right down into the bowels of the island. To their amazement tho whole island moved, and their catch hauled it through the sea at a terrific? rate until the line broke. The sailor reckoned the island shifted about ten mIU-s. "You wero fishing for whales, I suppose." said one of his auditors. "Whales'.'" h.-» snorted contemptuously; "Whales? Why, we were baiting with whales.''
