PROFESSIONAL CONTEST.

>Viv Lowe, 11.4; Fred Williams, 11.9. This was a fight for a purse of £40, . including expenses. It is hard to say which was m the best condition, both men being far from tip-top form and this may have accounted for the frequent clinching during the contest. Williams, who had trained for two weeks, was the quickest and most clever of the two, but his left-handed chops were not admired by ringsiders. V,iv, who fought throughout with a confident smile, had evidently left his true fighting kit at home. - • Williams missed with two hard lefts to body and left swings to head frequently, so frequently m fact that one wondered if it was the same Fred who put up such a great fight with Jim Griffin m the Drill Hall. Several times during the rqugh-up he forced Viv. to the floor, but it was 'seen half way through the journey that' he fought more, cleanly and his blows seldom missed, while Lowe going more for the body, had a greater tendency to clinch. Hard blows were received by both. Viv. left himself very open at times (m anticipation perhaps, but it did not come off). The fight was contested m good spirits bj% both men. Nobody with any knowledge of the game can deny that Williams put up the best flgl\t and scored the most points. However, Mr. O'Connor gave the fight to Lowe, which received a very mixed reception.
