SAYLOR v. SHUGRUE. Joe Gets Popular but Questionable Verdict. Milburn Misses Another KjO. (Special Cable to "Truth.") < The two walloping Americans, Milburn Say lor and Joe Shugrue, fought twenty fast and furious rounds at the Sydney Stadium on Saturday night last, before over 12,000 spectators. The referee gave Shugrue the decision, which, although popularly received, was questionable, for Saylor did all the forcing and floored Joe m the last round four times. The GovernorGeneral and suite were amongst the vast assemblage. Saylor recently had a spell, and on resuming work after his rest he came rapidly into a condition of beautiful fitness. Working at Katoomba, he filled his lungs with mounatin air, and it sure agreed with him. 'He was hard, tough, and strong, and he said previous to the fight, : "If' I can't swing to Joe Shugrue's head, then 'write down that Pm no fighter at all,, at all." All the same, Joe wasn't dismayed; He had had a win and a loss since he came to •Australia. The win was by knocking out Herb McCoy m fifteen rounds, and m doing this trick Shugrue' showed all the merits of a great little fighter. Then 'he was outpointed by Englishman Kid Lewis, which clever lad has baffled all the punchers arrayed' against him m this country — McCoy," Mehegan and Shugrue m succession. And when Milburn came to exchange biffs with Joe, he found he was a hitter as well as a' boxer.
