THEATRE ROYAL.

"Th© Rosary."

Under the direction of Mr. George Willoughby, m conjunction with E, J. Carroll, Edward Rose's famous melodrama, "The 'Rosary," opened jin brief season at the Theatre Royal last Monday and has met' with much success. The play, although somewhat stereotyped as melodramas are nowadays, is of deep human interest and is essentially a clean production. The comedy which is introduced, is of a, kind seldom -seen m New Zealand. '' Mr. Harrington Reynolds, as Father Kelly, would be difficult to improve upon, whilst Miss Jessie Arnold's work is beyond reproach. The cast is small, but what it lacks m quantity it makes up for m quality. The Christchurch season of the Co. closes to-night (Saturday). A special matinee, however, will be held this afternoon.
