Blindness is not often pleaded as an excuse for a breach of the peace. Poor, ill-used beer mostly gets the blame. Thus an Auckland paper: "At Auckland a blind man strenuously resisted a constable who was endeavoring to arrest him for drunkenness. His excuse was that he could not see who had got hold of him. He was fined £1, or three days' imprisonment m default."
