A worthless, thieving husband, wanted by "the police, arranges so that all concerned considers him : dead. His wife, a worthy woman m a lucrative millinery business, marries again', and is very happy m her new sphere; Twenty years after the husband makes Kid- re-appearance -on the scene and commences i blackmailing her. Proceeding to his garret m tho slums of Paris she gives hjm all her jewels and money she has with her so that his tongue will be silenced. His thieving companions afterwards murder him, for which the wife is arrested. A' raid is made; by the Gendarmes on the ; thieves' quarters and the. real murderers, 'are captured after a desperate struggle, and later on convicted. The wife, whose plight has been a most unhappy one, ;is released arid -restored to the arms of her devoted husband. A most unique drama, "Back From the Dead," shows great originality' in the many scenes and acts, and is produced with that: great attention to detail for which the Gaumont Co. is famous. .
