A Married Woman's Death. Supposed Suicide at a Salvarmy Shanty. The "Blood' and 'Fire Brigade's 1 ' People's Palace, in Cuba-street, Wellington, was the sanctified 'scene of an inappropriate happening on Wednesday .evening last, when a young married woman, whose name is Jessie Alice 1 Drury, is' said to have taken her life. The girl ■ : \ CAME FROM MASTERTON, where she had been employed m some capacity at the Club Hotel, a few days ago, and had her hand-bag and handker-chief-box taken to. the Salvarmy People's Palace, m which humble and holy environment she obtained a room. On Wednesday, afternoon, at 3 o'clock, .she was observed to go to her room by Florrie Griffiths, a housemaid. That, by all accounts, was the last seen of Mrs. Drury, for at 6 o'clock m the evening her lifeless body was discovered, and the police were communicated with. In the room, when . . A SEARCH WAS MADE, was found a bottle containing some of the contents of the present-day -people's pass-out potion (lysol), also an. empty glass, under the chest of drawers, which gave plain indications of having contained some of the disinfectant. There was also the indisputable testimony that the woman had ended her life by drinking lysol, as her lips and mouth were considerably burnt. Mrs. Drury was a very ! young married woman, being only bej tween 23 and 24, having entered . the ' matrimony, state at- the age of 17 years. Her husband (who is said ; TO HAVE DESERTED HER some time ago), belongs to Hingland the cold, and was,! so "Truth" understands, once employed m Wellington as a cabdriver.
