DUNEDIN DOINGS.
«. . i [From "Truth's" Dunedin Rep.j WANDERING WOWSERS. Dennison's Dilemma. Dennison, of the Chapman-Alexan-der wbwserino party, alighted at the Grand Hotel one evening this week, and, to his consternation, found the door locked. He promptly proceeded to raise a stink, and the manage--1 ment informed him that the law of | New Zealand did not provide for a ] house with a license being kept open after 10 p.m. Dennison then shot his horn to the extent that he never saw anything ■ like it m America, where N they kept j tho front door open and shut the j bar door. Now, Mr Dennison's , density may : not be perceptible to all, particularj ly privileged persons, but to most of ;us who understand the law of the Dominion, the explanation is unnecessary. This wowserino party which is attempting to convert the 'public of New Zealand, may very , well practise what they preach. The estimable Dr. Torrey, who one time • j travelled with the amiable Alexan- ! a.nder, was held up m Montreal m < •; Eastern Canada, because : he made \ | disreputable statements against .an j interrupter, and was detained there until he made pecuniary satisfaction to the gentleman whom he insulted. This revisionary religion is a cracI kerjack caprice for ready money making. Cliapman and Alexander are not m the game for their health, i They rake m easy coins which come to the plate, and with a hypocritical happiness they render thanks to God for the donations wrung out of the pockets of the tickled by these commercial Christians.
