LADY MEDALLIST.

Commenting O n the performance of Lady Medallist, at the recent liosehill meeting, the 'Sydney "Sportsman" has the following : "Lady MedaHist being started itt the Kydallnere. Mile, was responsible for a slump m the betting as regards the other candidates, but money galore' came for her. The Bar Vons played a kind of "chance it" , with the daughter of St. Alwyne m laying, her early at 5 to 2, .but.when they laid 'their full books, and^ found very little boodle coming- for the "others," they no doubt repented opening up at such a ' price. She was backed down to sto *i, and, had the start, been .delayed a little' longer,^ would * have touched even a! shorter price. Fairly early m the race the favorite ran Ho the front,' and never' being ridden along, won m a most decided; style by ha|f-a-, dozen lengths' from Gri.st, who ,beat Red Knight by a length. The easy victory,' with 10.0 up, sent the exNew Zeal tinder, up m price for the Epsom Handicap, nnd she left such a marked impression m the minds of most of those who witnessed the race, that they left the course satisfied that sho will cop the big 'mile event. This event certainly does appear,likely to i fall to' her ; still, the company she opposed was a long remove from that which she will oppose to-day." •
