Siie held forth at great length from a platform m the main thoroughfare. l-j'er stock-in-trade, m additi-on to her. . strenuous sin-ill voice, consisted of a gloss of water, nnd a worm— the latter, of course, was not her husband, but a common garden, live worm. To demonstrate tho dilierence- between water and whisky, she dropped the worm first m the water, when it wriggled about apparently mi n ■ enjoyment of the bath. Then it was placed m the whisky, and after a spasmodic kick or tw 0 it snuffed out. She hold forth the dreadful result m triumnh. when immediately a Voice from the. fringe of the crowd risked : '-What hrand of whisky is that, mr.dom ? I've had worms' for ;his last twenty, years, and would jike to get rid oi 'em !"
