The Anglican missioners are not, apparently, above taking leaves out of the books of their cash-chasing Yankee Methody brethren. Up at Napier, the other day, when one of the imported Anglicans had eloquently stoushed shikkur, local Canon Mayne, who admitted having followed old Paul's advice to take a little wine for "Tummy's" sake, publicly swore oft. The Canon delivered a short address, and created the usual "deep impression," more particularly so when resuming his seat. Then the Bishop of Waiapu rose from his seat and shook the Canon warmJy by the hand. Well, what is "Critic" to think :■ . Another brand plucked, or just a little bit of circus by-play ?
