Varied and Vexatious.

Harry Thompson has just been released from .Mount Eden gaol, where he had spent a year and eight months, being the aggregate of the cumulative sentences passed ( upon Mm by Mr Justice Edwards m 1908 after his conviction upon, ten different charges of indecent assault. Since , his release, he has been indulging m the pastime of submitting a list of grievances to writing, included among such grievances being , various "charges against Mr Justice Edwards, the jury by whom he was tried, the witnesses who gave evidence against him, and Mr J. R. Lundon, the counsel who conducted his defence.

According to the allegations of this self-cons fcituted martyr, Mr Justice Edwards misdirected the jury, who returned an improper, verdict, the witnesses perjured themselves, and Mr Lundon misconducted the defence.

"Truth" has gone carefully through tltc depositions and made a thorough investigation of the whole case and the above formidable array of charges. The result Is that this journal is convinced that Thompson bad a fair trial, that the yen diet /was only such, as an honest jury .coald have returned, that Mr Lundon made the best of. a bad case, and the sentence imposed by his Honor was as"light as it could reasonably have been.
