HIS MAJESTY'S.

Royal Pictures.

Messrs Linley and Donovan have no reason to complain, considering hard, times and opposition picture shows, of. any lack . oi public approbation of their' efforts to' maintain a high standard of the .moving picture entertainment. The programme doing duty this week is an exceptionally interesting one, so interesting indeed^ has it been, that the boofc-^ ing of seats has been phenomenal, and the rows of reserves about the machine is quite unexplicable. Indeed, the front stalls near the "orchestra" seem to have lost their attraction. Why, this 1 paper won't say. Anyhow, there hasn't been any vacant seats anywhere, and the managerial invitation to "have a taste" at the interval is a sure sign ,of allround prosperity. The programme opens Svith the "Principles of the Gyroscope," which, it is here explained, is a machine which is intended to illustrate the rotation of the earth. "A Tragedy of the Snow" is a tragedy where a hard-up peasant, the devil, and a beautiful angel with wings neatly plastered on her back do weird sort of things. • Undoubtedly the gem picture is entitled, "The Lighthouse Keeper," and "Truth!' won't describe it because it ought to be seen. "Winter Sports m Savoy," "A Cure for Basbiulness," "Coffee Cultivation," "A Dream of Wealth," "The Ragman's Bargain," "A Sister's Love," "Mr Feary does not like Policemen," "The Convict's Revenge," and ' "Why Father Learnt to Ride" s constitute a programme which ought to be shown by Royal command. The usual matinee will be given this /afternoon.'
