AN ELECTION ECHO.
The Gentle Art of Egg Throwing
Was Watts a Pimp.
There works m the office of the "FBfl*» ing Star," owned by Fred Pirani and Foin Mills, a pimping person named Watts who has not the slightest hesitation m lending '.himself, or selling himself, i$ may be, to the police when -any spying or other despicable dirty work 'is required. On the night of the election THIS PURITANICAL PIMP PERSON, fired with a desire to . become a Sherlock Holmes or a Detective yuartercnain, took upon himself to watch what was taking place among; the populace, and, discovering several persons indulging m the pleasant ,and eleyatimg 'pastime of hurling over-ripe hen fruit, he informed the police of one of the hurlers, and the usual result followed, Sergeant Bowden posing as the. captujcer of a vile and villainous ruffian. The' most interesting feature m regard to the wily Watts, , police pimp, is that he saw several others hurling the hen fruit, but as he was acquainted with the gentry who were residents of ifeiiding and might have talked- stoush to him, he wisefly refrained f^om saying a word about them, thereby, proving what ' A CRAVEN COWARD HE IS. The poor, unfortunate man, who, as the result of the cringing, crawling coot Watts's action, was hauled before tfie court; alleges that lie was informed by Sergeant Bowden, through another man, that if he pleaded guilty it would only cost him about ss, and acting on this advice, he did so plead. But as soon as the plea was entered, up jumped the bombastic Bowden and made a speech which would haye been enough to condemn a man charged with murder and the poor fellow was fined, not five bob, but five quid. But the crowning feature of the case was that the police and Watts, the police pimp, were COMPLIMENTED BY THE BSNOJH on having made such a smart capture, i "Truth" has no opinion to express On; the capture, but right here sympathises with the residents of Feilding on haxias such a person m their midst as thepuxitaniqal pimp person "Watts. Incidentally; ■it mi&ht be mentioned that "Truth" has no time for people who throw eggs.
