WELLINGTON 6, OLD BOYS.

Tight forward play predominated m the Wellington-Old Boys /'fixture, and m consequence the game was rather uninteresting- ■* McKay, the Wellington scrumraager, stood right out from everyone. He was on the ball from start to finish. His efforts were ably seconded by Wilson, but the whole pack grafted hard. Barclay, on the wing, gave rather an indifferent display. _ The Wellington backs were hot Worked enough and did not make use of their available chances.' Abercrombie, at first five-eighths, is a hard man to stop, but he has a good deal to learn. He must remember the attack of his backs rests with him. ' His defence is very solid. Hill was patchy, and this was the case with most of the others. Sheridan, at full, did very well, but at present lacks the confidence that only experience can give. The Old Boys' pack put up a good fight against their weightier opponents, but the scrum went to pieces badly m the second h^lf. There was ho push from the. left flank, and the forwards generally seem-: ed done. Avery and Drake, the wingers, were m great fettle, and Freyberg and Alexander were m. all the hot stuff. Thomson did a lotv.of work at half and kept his men well m hand. Elias and Dawson were right off and the former especially gave a very poor display. - This game was played hard but there was ,an eptire absence of temper. The players are to be congratulated, but the "yapping" element was pretty strong again; A forward on either side was mainly responsible for this irritating business.
