And the ioy of jobless gen'rals surges up m fearsome ditties, While our thoughts are turned from . heaven and our journey there pet hearse. Note the Tory local body and the stingy Farmers' Union As they howl m turgid concert for a starving, sweating wage. While the parson dines with Mammon, 'cause the rich attend Communion, And the cleric blames the worker for his patron's vicious rage. In this country economic dearth and glut are rules by wages, And the brew'ry pays its workers m a lavish, open style.
