The decomposed remains of an infant child, which was apparently only a few hours old at the time of its death, was found by a Masterton resident m the back yard of his premises recently. He reported his discovery to the police, who are inclined to think that the child was that of a young woman who was found drowned m the Waipoua river about two months ago. The woman had given birth to a child a few hours prior to her death, and nothing was heard of what became of the infant. The remains, which were found wrapped m an apron, could not have been m the yard for any length of time, as the _tu_mse had been m constant occupation for a considerable period, and the discovery was not made until a few days ago. The matter is a mystery, but it is supposed that the remains of the child have been recently discovered and placed by some person .where just foupd 4
