JACK JOHNSON TALKS.

'An 'American paper again : — "For quaint language put into the mouth of an athlete by a sporting reporter, commend us to this from a Yankee paper re Jack Johnson, who is supposed to be prowling the wharfs at New York anxiously awaiting the arrival from England of his mortal enemy, Tommy Burns, of Canada. 'Little Ahtha,' as Johnson is known by the talent, is made to say :—

"'Now, if you boys really want to see Tommy again, ah guess it will be up to Ahtha to get a yacht, sail 'cross dat pond, and sho' him home. Didn't Ah do that with Squires ? He was down there on dat lonely island, , and king of all he ran into. Ah jwest) that Ah'd beat Burns to the killin' so Ah sneaks to Australia myself. The minute Ah landed Squires broke like a colt for that steamship office and hires a stateroom, bound, fo' dis mos' beautiful land. l

" "There was yo' poor Lil Ahtha, let' standing high and dry on da beach watchin' tlat kangaroo squash sailin' into Tommy Burns open ahms. Ah was that angry that Ah turned around and ' hunted up the men that Squires had flogged, and Ah busted up each one of them so bahd on the joab that Squires -lost his reputation right dere m his home town. Ah guess it's fo' me to slip into London an' 'so boss' that, fellow homeward. In the , meantime, Ah"fn goin' on the road again with a theatrical company to keep ma mind of! Dat squat lil' cha' who is laughin' himsel' to death wit' the idea that he is the daddy longlegs of all the glove tossers. Well, he isn't. Just keep yo' critical eye on Ahtha. Ah'll make him come home, and come with a hop, skip, an' a jump. Dere's one man dat Lil' Ahtha is sho' of* Why Ah saw Burns fight -.that fellow Flynn that 'Ah plunked, and let me tell you that Burns hasn't got a straight punch m his hul rep'twali. Dats a lubly word, but yest the same, ke hasn't got a straight punch. All swings, and a mile wide. Please be at de ringside and see da firewuks. Dats all Ah ask you.' "
