Rowe Roughs It with a Demon.
Merry Andrew's Lovely " Stinker."
'Tec. Andrews was the recipient of a present on Tuesday, evening, but, sad to say, was no i thankful for it. It was a lovely black eye, a gem of its species, an eye that Andrews ought, to have felt proud of. The 'tec, 'however, m an ungrateful mood, has been, doing his level best to hide it from the vulgar • gaze. About 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday Andrews and 'Tec. Lewis arrested a young fellow named Rowe on a charge of housebreaking. After the arrest had been effected two companions of Rowe's walked away, and Lewis went after them, v LEAVING- THE RORTY ROWE with the guileless Andrews. Suddenly Rowe bashed the "demon" on \ the eye, and began to struggle for all he was worth. Chief . Detective McGrath informed. Beak Riddell, S.M., that Rowe was. a regular bad -un, with a long list of convictions against him for nearly all the crimes on the cal-. endar. Rowdy Rowe w*as handed outa month for the awful assault. On the ..housebreaking charge he was remanded till April Ist,
