KARORI RESEVOIR.

CLEANED ONCE IN TWENTY

YEARS.

Just now when Mat>r Hislop and the rest of the Councillors, who want re-electing, are telling citizens what they have done and will do if re-elected, and are leaving the citizens to find out by best means possible, what they have not done, it is interesting to all ratepayers, supplied with water from the Karori Reservoir, to learn that it has not been cleaned out for at least twenty years. The probability is that it would not have been cleared then had n o t a j*irl drowned herself there. This little bit of inttrestina: information came out at Mr. Wilford's meeting at Mitchelltown last Monday evening, and it certainly shows how much attention the City Council has been paying to the interests of ratepayers, m that a nd other adjacent districts. No doubt if the reservoir was drained out the water would be much fresher, and certainly more pure, and heaven alone knows what filth has been allowed to accumulate during nearly a quarter of a century. It is to be trusted that whatever the results of the elections, the City Ett°;ineer, or whoever is m charge of the concern, will at once attend to it.
