A travelling correspondent writes : —"Glad to see. you are keeping up the good work against the Chows. Oh sojourning here m Foxtqn for a few days -I mid the only brick shop m the place is run by a Chow, and he 'does nothing' to the local femininity ! It is a town scandal."
"Chow-hater" writes asking why the Chinese gardeners m Alastertori are allowed ,to work on Sunday: whilst only a few months ago a white man was fined for making a necessary alteration to ' his house on that day ? He states that the fact of the Chows grafting m their gardens on the Sabbath has been pointed out to the police, but. no action has been taken yet the white man v/as fined for Sunday working without the police being prompted at all. The Chow seems to haye 1 made his marble good at Masterton. ; ' I
