ESSAY ON CHRISTMAS DAY ON A FARM
On Christmas Day we have a lot of fun. When we wake up in the morning we always look m our socks. We first gather some flowers, and take all our pets, and our umbrellas. As we sit under cur umbrellas we hear the singing of the thrushes, the lambs calling for their mother, the twittering of a sparrow, and the air would be alive with sounds of summer. We would look at the cows feeding, and we would ramble all over the farm. I would then play with the young lambs while their mothers lay in the hot sun. When we heard the whistle, we would have dinner, and then we would make another journey across the farm. The animals would be lying down for a nap. The sun would be moving slowly towards the west, the farmers would be driving in their cows, and the calves would be crying for their milk. After the farmers had rounded up all the calves, and cows, they would-start their machines. When they were finished they would feed the calves, clean out the cowshed; then they would make the bran and give it to the noisy pigs. After finishing their work they would have a bath, and then put on their best suits. They would then look at their horses and other stock which were not milking. Then th'ev went home and had tea. They then began playing with the children’s toys and making them happier than ever. After playing with the children they went for a walk down the street and back. Then they said “Goodnight,” and went to bed. I have not yet found out any more about Christmas. ARCHIE TAYLOR Aratapu, North Wairoa. (Aged Q years).
