STREET WIDENING
TO ELIMINATE CONGESTION With a view to relieving congestion in tlie citv in "(he future, the Wellington C'itv Council has in recent years passed a good deal of legislation calculated to produce street widening. At last night’s meeting it was decided on the recommendation of the Finance nnd Pro-pertv Committee: — That all new buildings to he erected on the western side of Thormlon quav between Lnnibt.on nuay nnd Davis street he set hnck 14 feet from the present street alignment in order tb*t this portion of the street mnv ulimatelv he widened by this extent. Tt was further resolved that Lhe offer of the Reserves Department to endeavour to supolv spoil from tb° adjacent hill to fill the gully at Glenmore street, in order that street mnv he widened prior to paving be accepted
