CHILDREN’S BAZAAR

Helen. Kathleen and Jean Haim, three little girls belonging to Melrose, were the originators of a bazaar that was held in tho Melrose Hall last Saturday afternoon. The room was beautifully decorated with streamers in the various shades of heliotrope, from which wore suspended clusters of wisteria. The fancy stall was stocked with a collection of the most dainty and attractive articles suitable for Christmas presents, the flower stall was also well supplied, na was tho produce stall, the sw?et ttnll was well filled with home-made sweets made up in the daintiest and prettiest little baskets, eto. Tho accommodation was taxed to the utmost, every available part of the building being utilised. Ono very fine feature of this venture was tlie help given to the young people by those immediately associated with them. Airs Williamson (tlieir aunt) lias been tireless in her efforts, and most of the articles on the fancy stall were made by her. Airs M. Hupn has also helped ill numerous ways, also Misses Nellie and Edna Coleson, who have been most enthusiastio and generous in assisting. Mrs Porter was asked to open the bnznaT, and in doing so congratulated tlie Melrose branch of the Women's National Reserve upon the unique, position it occupied in having a junior branch, and upon the personal trouble taken by tho adults in the effort of the young people. The speaker stressed the value it was to the community, the training of the children, and this was greatly stimulated l>v the practical sympathy of their elders. Airs Porter was presented with a beautiful bouquet ot roses by little Miriam Cox. A delicious afternoon tea was provide:! by the members of the Alclrose branch. The sum of £44 has been raised by the young people, which they have decided to devote to a special object for tho residential nursery.
