ANNUAL SPORTS THE CUP After the conclusion of the • Velay races at the Wellington College sports the prizes won during the day were presented by Mrs A. C. Gifford, wife of the acting-principal. Mr Gifford said that he had received apologies from a number who were unable to attend the sports. All were exceedingly sorry that Mr CresSwell (the principal) and Mrs Cresswell could not be present. They were missed very much. A notable absentee from the gathering 'was Mr J. P. Firth, but Airs Firth had been present during part of the afternoon. Among others who had sent apologies were the Hon. R, A. Wright (Minister for Educauon; and Dr. Marsden. Mr Gifford thanked the visiteffs for their attendance, and also the donors for special cups for competition. He was sure the gathering had been as pleasant and as equally successful as those in the past« The cup winners were : Senior championship: F. S. Ramson; runner-up, A. E. Burd. Junior championship: H. R. G. Avery. Lady Prendergast Cup: A. E. BurcL Lady Ranfurly Cup: F. 8. Ramson. Oram Cup: A. E. Burd, E. H. Lovatt, J. J. Warring, equal. Knox Gilmer Memorial Cup: W. H: Pickering and V* Du Chateau, equal. Luke Cup: F. S. Ramson. Sievwright Cup: C. T. Hobson. Webster Challenge Cup: O. Turner. Swimming tropjiies, and the Whatman Cup, won by the college boxing team at the recent territorial and cadet tournament, were alsb presented. At the conclusion of the prize-giv-ing ceremony cheers were given for Mr and Mrs A. C. Gifford, the college staff, visitors, non-prize winners, and prize-winners. The playing of “G6R Save the King” brought an excellent day’s outing to a close.
