OPERA HOUSE SUCCESS
! INTERNATIONAL VAUDEVILLE | HIGH-CLASS REVUE. j Judging from the appreciation shown by the audience at the Opera House last night, the J. C. Williamson International Vaudeville Company is a combination that surpasses anv- , thing of its kind yet seen in Wellington. It is difficult to individualise the merits of the various turns, for one and all, both grave _and gay, are entertaining. Salerno juggles with regular stage paraphernalia and all of his work is excellent. The Monroe Brothers, by their clever absurdities, show themselves as real artists; Hilda Nelson pleases with her soprano voice, Arthur Bond’s nonsense is refreshingly clean, and Osborne and Perryer’s adventures with a nowly-purehased “automobile” cannot help to raise a laugh. Ngaire and Tointon are experts with the xylophone, and Leah mystifies completely with her coffin trickery. It is manifestly impossible and yet it is done. Brian Lawrence, tenor, and Phyllis Du Barry complete the bill.
The four finalists in the beauty contest also come in for their mead of hearty applause and approval from the audience.
