POTATO VALUES LOW. * Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, September m The market this week has been lifetatf in the extreme. Bren potatoes foiled to business beyond occasional sales. On Wednesday they were as low as £3 2s 6d at which figure * little business was done, but £3 5a wae the basis of the bulk of the few operations that took place. To-day them was quite a fair amount of inquiry front Auckland, and sales were made at £3 10a f.o.b.s.i. The Waipahi earlier in tha week took only 1700 sacks for Auckland, and the next boat, the Kurow. la not due to sail until Thursday. When the Whangape sailed for Sydney on Wednesday she took 15,000 odd sacks from all southern ports. There will be another Sydney vessel this month, hut the. date of departure is not yet announced. At the Feilding stock sale there wag a heavy yarding of fat sheep, including some very prime. There was keen competiton for fat ewes, but not so for wethers. There was a medium yarding of all classes of cattle. Dairy stock showed a good rise, especially in heifers. Fat cattle sold at an advance on late sales, and some of the bullocks yarded sold at about £2 per 1001 b. Store cattle wers hard to quit.
