THEFT FROM WOMAN
YOUNG MAN AWAITS SENTENCE POLICE AND SUMMONS CASES. Mr E. Page, S.M., dealt with police and summons cases in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday as under: — Edward John Mackay, aged 30, who admitted stealing two ladies’ coats, valued at £6 os, and a quantity of wool, valued at £5, the property of May Neill, was conv:cted, and remanded until Monday for sentence, pending a report from the probation officer (Mr T. P. Mills). On a further charge of wilfully damaging a wristlet watch to the extent of 7s od, the property of Constable Bradley who effected his arrest, Mackay was also remanded for sentence until Monday. “MERELY A TECHNICAL BREACH” David Livingstone, who was charged with being the owner of an electric motor for driving “The Whip,” a contrivance in use at the recent Winter Show, and using such without a certificate of inspection, was convicted and fined £l. Mr H.. H. Cornish, for the defendant, remarked that the breach was purely of a technical nature, as Livingstone had obtained a license at Dunedin, and was under the impression this held good in Wellington.
