“NO HAND IN MATTER”
NEPIA’S DEFECTION FROM MAORI TOUR WELLINGTON UNION REFUTE IMPRESSION. In regard to the controversy arising from Nepin’s defection from the Maori tour, Mr J. H. Prendoville stated at the meeting of the management committee last evening that the Wellington Rugby Union desired to refute the impression that they had. taken any hand in stirring lip the trouble. The mntter was essentially one between the New Zealand Union and Hawke’s Bay, not between the Wellington Rugby Union and Hawke’s Bay, as n recent Press message from Napier had appeared to convey. Ths impression, ho said, was absolutely contrary to fact, as the Wellington Union had taken no hand in the investigation of the matter.
