BURGLARS ACTIVE
SEVERAL PREMISES ENTERED THEFTS AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Pres* Association. CHRISTCHURCH, August 17. Goods to the value of £9l were taken from the Oxford branch of tfie New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operativo Association. The articles consisted ot watches, pendants, rings, two suitcases, tins of biscuits, chocolates anil packets of cigarettes. Tiie Leeston branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association was broken into last night, and an assortment of goods valued at several pounds was taken. f On Sunday afternoon the home of Mr A. Johnson, Christchurch, was broken into, and the sum ot £lB in notes stolen. The theft took place in broad daylight. At 2.15 o’clock on Sunday afternoon Mr and Mrs Johnson went out for a drive. They returned at 4.45 o’clock, and learned that intruders had visited the house. A cashbox was found lying open in a front room. It bad been broken open, and the sum of £l2 taken. A purse had also been found in a drawer, and the sum of £6 taken from it. A gold watch and other jewellery were not taken.
