LOCAL RAILWAYS BILL A bill amending the Local Railways Act, 1914, was introduced into tho Houso of Representatives yesterday. It provides that a railway district may by Order-in-Counci! bo subdivided into wards for purposes of representation. The term ol office of a railway board is increased from two years to three. On receipt of a petition from a railway board the Governor-General may abolish the board’s district. In that event the assets of the board arc to be vested in the Crown as liquidator, but tho ratepayers are not to be relieved of their liability to pay any special rate made by the board as security for any loan. Locomotives used by a board on its linos are to be inspected ns if they belonged to the Government Railways,.
