DANUBE OVERFLOWS
GREAT FLOOD IN RUMANIA A THOUSAND HOUSES LOST. Australian olid N.Z. Cable Association. (Received August 16, 7.20 p.m.) BUCHAREST, August 15. Extensive floods have occurred owing to tho overflowing of the Danube in the Galatz and Transylvanian districts. Red Cross workers from Jugoslavia report that more than 1000 houses have been destroyed. The floods were due to the breakdown of the general conservancy, which the Hungarian and Jugo-Slavian Governments are endeavouring to re vive.
