SATURDAY’S SITTING FORGERY CHARGES. I’oli co cases were heard before Mr B. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate’* Court on Saturday morning as follow ; George Alexander Robert Irving, it driver, aged 26, charged with forging a withdrawal slip for £33 10s on the Post Office Savings Bank purporting to bo signed by Daniel Wilson, was remanded until Wednesday next, August 18thAllan Lockhart Familton, described as a polisher, on a charge of forging the signature of P. Childs on a cheque drawn for £2O, and causing John Ashworth to act upon it as if it were genuine, was remanded to appear at beviot on Saturday morning next, August 21st. Calvini Giovanni, five times previously convicted of drunkenness, appeared to answer a sixth similar offence. Giovanni was convicted and fined £3, in default fourteen days’ imprisonment, and prohibited for twelve months.
