PORT NICHOLSON CLUB ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND. A general meeting of the Port Nichol-. son Cycling Club was held last Thursday evening. Mr G. Harrison presided over an attendance of some 25 n o’nbers. hour new senior and two nev. junior members were elected. The secretary reported the following donations: —W. V. Westbury, Lower Hutt, finishing clock; S. Hewgill, £1 l<s. He was instructed to thank these gentlemen. The chairman also reported that Mr Westbury had offered a donation of a set of Westbury road-racing tyres for competition in the Palmerston-Wellington race, and it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Harrison, seconded by Mr Hall and with the approval of Mr Westbury, to give the trophy to the first member of the club to finish. It was decided also on the motion of Mr Harrison to make Mr Wostbury a vice-president of the club. On the proposal of Mr Bright, it was decided to write and thank the Petone Rowing Club for the use of its dressingsheds, and Messrs Rogers and Hall, for the use of tlieir clubroom. The chairman presented the prizes to the winners of the last road race, congratulating them on their performances, especially Mr Carswell, followed by a general discussion on their ping, etc It was decided that the distance of next race be 50 miles. On the proposal of Mr Clouston, seconded by Mr F. Robinson, it was decided that the course would commence at the Petone rowing sheds, proceeding via Cuba street and the Main Hutt road to the foot of the Maungaroa Hill, and back via the Petone railway station. It was decided, on the proposal of Mr Flett, seconded by Mr Carswell, that the race would commence at 2 o'clock on the date decided at last general meeting, namely, August 21st. The official cars carrying stewards are to fly yellow and black flags so as to be distinguished by competitors. Mr Bright moved that a post entry novice race for juniors under 16 years of age be held during the time the riders in the other race are ‘away, the course to be over the Petone Pipe Bridge, the Hutt Bridge, and back via Petone station—6£ miles; there to be seven entries or no race Seconded by Mr Stalker and carried. Messrs C. Flett, J. Stalker, and R. S. Webber offered to’ give prizes for first, second, and fastest time, respectively.

Mr Stalker moved, for the consideration of next general meeting, that another race be held on September 4th; distance 25 miles.
