HOSPITAL RADIO FUND

TENDERS TO BE CALLED A meeting was held last evening of the committee for the fund for the purchase of a broadcast receiving installation for the patients of the Wellington Hospital. Mr W. Stuart Wilson occupied the chair. It was decided not to approach the Government for a pound for pound subsidy, the committee being of the opinion that the citizens themselves should act independently of the authorities. The hon. secretary, Mr I. M. Levy, reported that Messrs S. Wood and Son had donated two fifty feet masts for tho aerial. The donors had undertaken to hand the masts over prepared and painted ready for erection. The secretary was instructed to write a letter to Messrs Wood and Son expressing hearty appreciation of their gift. A tenders committee was appointed for the purpose of calling for tenders for installing tho broadcast receiving equipment in the main building of the hospital, as the first section of the scheme, comprising Messrs Wilson, Levy, J. H Owen, L. Grouhand, and T. Mcgnnn About 250 beds will be embraced in the first section of the scheme, together with two loud-speak-ers fo rtl.o handstand.
