CRUELTY TO SHEEP
A WARNING PROSECUTION. Per Proas Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 23. “More care should be taken-in the matter of feeding sheep coming from the North Island,” said Air C. S. Thomas, in the Magistrate’s Court this morhing when, on behalf of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, he prosecuted L. Corsley, who was charged with failing to supply sheep with sufficient and proper food. Mr Thomas said the sheep had come from the North Island, having been put on the boat while in poor condition.. Dealers made a practice of bring-
ing sheep down and selling them as stores. Corsley’s sheep had been stored in a paddock where there was very littlo grass. “This case,” he added, “is brought as a warning.” The defendant was convicted and fined 20s with costs.
