TO-DAY’S RUGBY MATCHES
PETONE v. ATHLETIC The progress of the local senior A grade Rugby championship competition has placed Athlctio and Petone in the light of possible finalists, Athletic being unbeaten and Petone having met their only defeat last Saturday. These teams are to meet each other this afternoon, at Athletic Park, and as the match has an important hearing on the championship, the interest is at a high pitch. Followers of the game can look forward to a stirring encounter in which Petone will he right out to regain the ground lost last Saturday, and in which Athletic will do their utmost to keep their fine record intact. The football should be bright and 1 entertaining, as both sides revel in the open game. Athletic’s team will inchide two internationals, Porter and Svenson, and Petone will have the services of three players who have represented New Zealand —Mark Nicholls, H. E. Nidiolls, and L. A. Thomas. Porter, Svenson, and M. Nicholls will bo playing their last club game until the Teturn of the New Zealand team. At Newtown Park Old Boys‘and Wellington should provide a good game, and on the same ground two senior B teams will he seen in action —Old Boys and Training College. Oriental and Berhampore are meeting at Petone.
