REPRESENTATIVE MATCH AUCKLAND v. SOUTH AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 25. The League Rugby team to represent Auckland against South Auckland tomorrow is:—Full-back, Dufty; threequarters, Brown, E. Davidson. D<f~ grosso; five-eighths, Cole, Wetherafl; half-back, Peckham; forwards, O'Brien, Townsend, Singe, Hutt. Clark, Avery (captain). Reserves: Backs, Kirwan, Littlewood, Poison, Gregory; forwards, Payne. Herring. St. George. Mr R. J. Stirling, one of the selectors, telegraphed to the New Zealand Council from Wellington for permission to include Carroll and Desmond, of Wellington. in the South Auckland team. The chairman, Mr Carlaw, stated nt a meeting of the council that as time was precious he had taken it upon himself to refuse permission He said he did not consider that the team which played against Wellington on Wednesday should be altered, anil ho thought it would be unfair to dissociate anv of the Waikato players. It was pointed out that games as trials had been arranged to pick the best players, and said that the selectors must be of opinion that Carroll and Descend should be given an opportunity to prove their •worth. While the matter was being discussed the secretary of the South Auckland League telephoned for permission for another player to be in to-morrow's South Auckland team. This request was granted after lengthy discussion. Mr E. H. Mair, selector, in supporting Mr Stilling, said it was evident that the prospects of Townsend, of Auckland, and Carroll, hooker of the North Island team, were under review. The council endorsed the action of tile chairman, and refused Mr Stirling's request. It was decided that nil the delegates should seek information from their leagues as to the prospects of any pairies accompauying the New Zealand touring team.
