RAMON NAVARRO IN “THE MIDSHIPMAN.”
The story from which Metro-Gold-wyn-Maver formed the screen photoplay, “The Midshipman,” came from the brilliant pen of Carey Wilson, and is a vivid portrayal of the life of a sailor on both land and sea. The trials of a follower of the calling of the sea are no fewer than those of his more fortunate brethren on shore, hut the manner in which Ramon Novarro, who is excellently cast as the hero of the story, tackles the problems with which he is confronted, is an objectlesson to all who see the picture. With the true fighting heart of a sailor he refuses to go under to the troubles he meets, and eventually comes out the victor. The law of compensation provides him with a winsome maid as a reward for the efforts he had made to do the right thing, and for the manly spirit in which he met his had luck. This thrilling story of the sea is commencing at the Theatre De Luxe tonight. There will be the usual excellent sup porting hill and a specially selected nusioal programme by Mr L. D. fust in’s talented orchestra.
