SONATA RECITAL
Last night at the Concert Chamber the last of a series of three recitals by Mr Bernard Page and Air Leon de Alauny was given before a full house which showed the popularity of these concerts. During the first series sonatas by Haydn, Mozart, Brahms, Cesar Franck, Lazzari, Ropartz; Gretchainoff, Leken, and Jongen have been given. Last night’s programme consisted of Mo2art’s Sonata in G Major, Lazzari’s Sonata in E Major (Op. 24), and Jongen, Sonata in E Major (Op. 34). All were given with the usual finish of these performers, the middle number being especially interesting with its march like note and stirring third part The audience showed special appreciation of this sonata. Another series is intended, the patronage on these having been genevous, and for this series it is intended to include in the programmes sonatas by the younger school of English composers and other conte uporary wnurs of outstanding import;an. e, as well as works by earlier masters.
