IMPORTANT REARRANGEMENT
SIGNS AT PARLIAMENT HOUSE Sign, of an important rearrangement in Parliament Home are evident. Round about the quarters occupied by the Hon. A. D. McLeod, Minister for Lands, there ' are indications of “shifting out.” As far as can be gathered at present, Mr McLeod is shifting out to make way for the setting up of the new department to be known as the Prime Minister’s . Department. Part of the scheme is for the Prime Minister to have round him the whole of his secretaries and other staff instead of their being scattered about the building, and also for the head of the Government to be able to obtain greater quiet and privacy than has been the cate with New Zealand Prime Ministers for years past. Mr Coates will move into the room which Mr McLeod has occupied, and probably half a dozen of the offices along the same corridor will be taken for secretaries and sta . Not far away will be the new department, with Mr F. D. Thomson at the head, and here again anything up to half a dozen offices might be required. However, ns these offices have not been specially designed for the purpose,to which they might now be put, it will not be surprising if their occupancy is not permanent.
