THE NEW MINISTER
PUBLIC CONGRATULATIONS The appointment of Mr R. A. Wright to the portfolio of education, was the subject of congratulatory reference at the New Zealand Alliance luncheon yesterday, when the chairman, Rev. W. J. Comrie, said Mr Wright had received deserved- pramotion in the army of Government administration. It was pleasing to Wellingtonians to know that the city now had a representative in the Cabinet. It was a great honour, and the speaker was sure that all would wish the new Minister well. (Applause.) The Hon. Mr Wright later received the congratulations of the Hon. Geo. Fowlds, who recalled the time when he held a similar portfolio, and who considered that it was one of the most important in Cabinet rank. “While the new Minister will represent and look after the needs of the Empire,” the speaker went on, “I hope he will not forget the little village in the north.” (Laughter.) (The speaker comes from Auckland.)
