“WE WILL NOT BREAK FAITH" PRINCE LEADS BRITISH LEGION IMPRESSIVE CEREMONY By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copvriglil Reuter’s TVlp<jvnm. LONDON, May 23. The Prince of Wales, in a speech at the annual conference of tbe British Legion, which was attended by delegates representing hundreds of thousands of men, including, for the first time, representntioes of Ireland and other parts of the Empire, said: “The legion is one of our greatest organisations for doing good.” He dwelt on the success of the legion in finding employment for ex-service men, amt paid a tribute to the co-operation of employers. He asked them most earnestly to give the legion an opportunity of supplying some of the extra labour required. GROWING IN STRENGTH Field-Marshal Earl Haig, president, said that there had been a net increase Of 159 branches during the past year, during which 161 new branches and a women's section had been formed. He urged the legion and the British Empire Service League to co-operate with the Home and Dominion authorities to produce a large scheme of emigration. The legion sent a loyal message to the King, who replied, expressing deep appreciation. SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE Four thousand ex-service men and six thousand of the public attended a service of remembrance at the Cenotaph in the afternoon. The Prince of Vy ales and Earl Haig led the procession of ex-service men from the Horse Guards parade. Members of the women’s branches participated in the procession. The Prince of Wales laid the legion’s wreath of laurels and poppies at the foot of the Cenotaph, inscribed: “The Legion of the Living salutes‘the Legion of the Dead,” and “We will not Break Faith with You.” “The Last Post” and Reveille were sounded, and the National Anthem was sung.
