EX-SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED
Members of the Commercial Travel lers Male Voice Choir mustered full strength at the Red Cross Home, Hobson street, on Sunday afternoon to render a programme of music to the ex-soldier patients convalescing there. Zut," (Elgar;, tuund Invour among the audience exhorting as it did the listeners not to forget, the old time march tune of the boys of long ago. How they fiercely fought in battle grTlri and thunderous. (The Lyric and Aeolian Quartettes | sang two plantation melodies. hole • items were given bq Messrs Btspham, jtenorj W. Marshall and V. B. Treacher, bass. Two duets were rendered fby Messrs E. Pegg and W. Goudie. jOne of these, included “Two Beggars," | realised the sum of £1 10s, thrown at ! the feet of the beggars as they sang. The amount was handed to the matron towards securing a lounge chair for the home. At the conclusion of the programme afternoon tea was served the visitors by the staff. Mr Hugh Tv 7 right, president, and Mr Temple White, conducjtor of the choir, thanked the matron and staff for their hospitality. Miss I Mcßae, the matron, spoke of the j great pleasure afforded all present j through the visit. | Mr Brio Froggatt suitably played | the accompaniments. The Red Cross acknowledges th'o service rendered by the choir, which means a great deal to the patients.
