MORE APPLICATIONS EXECUTIVE MEETS TO-DAY NEXT-OF-KIN APPLICANTS After the lapse of one week, it was announced yesterday that all the 49 bells, valued at £9850, for the Wellington War Memorial Carillon, had been applied for, and that number had been greatly oversubscribed, there being no fewer than 68 applicants, with every indication of still more applications being received. The bells applied for yesterday included three of the biggest, and complete the list. These are sought by:— No. 3 bell, £IO4O—A special applicant. No. 4 bell, £B6B—Reserved. No. o hell, £7ll—Mr W. Brown. Other applications received yesterday were;£IOB bell, Niven and Co., of Wellington, making the fourth applicant for this bell. £3O bell, Mrs J. E. Ward, Oriental Bay. £3O bell, Combined Surf and Lifesaving Clubs, of Wellington* £3O bell, the limbless soldiers of Wellington. The last-named is one that will make a big impression on the people of Wellington. These men, who have lost one or more limbs, specially desire tho privilege of being allowed to present a £do bell in memory of their fallen comrades, and though they are late in making their application they express the hope that the society wili give them a chance. In making the application for the bell for the combined surf and lifesaving chibs Air P. Coira wrote:—“if it is not possible to grant this application, I would like your committee tc know that the clubs will lend their support and contribute, either through their respective district funds or the combined sxiorts bodies, as it is their desire to be associated with the Carllon Memorial, even though thei recontributing mite may only be small.” • It is announced that Bell No. 45 (£3O), previously applied for anonymously, has been applied for in memory of Sergeant C. E. Webb and Private A. L. Webb by the members of the family. No. 2 Bell, costing £1215, has been applied for by the Wholesale Merchants of Wellington. The Wellington Automobile Club applied for permission to present a bell at from £SO to £7O, making the 69th application. The committee of the Wellington War Memorial Carillon Society does not propose actually closing the lists. The allotment of bells will not be made till later on, preference to be given to applications From next-of-kin for all the small bells. The executive meets in the Town Hall this evening*
