HOSPITAL BOARD
ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS A TRAINING COLLEGE. Mr C. M. Luke presided at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Hospital Board yesterday. It was reported that the National Provident Fund Board had accepted the Wellington Hospital Board as a contributor to the fund. The Director-General of Health is to be informed that owing to the board’s present commitments it is unablo To take over St. Helens Hospital. Authority was given the Department of Health to expend £3B 5s from the Brown MoWilliam income account for the purchase of a cinematograph plant for the Otaki Sanatorium. Advice was received from the Direc-tor-General of Health that the department had approved of the amendment to tbs connecting corridor between the new buildingsi and the main hospital building. The tender of the Fletcher Construction Co., Ltd. (£982) was accepted. THE KENNEDY ESTATE The Assistant Director-General of Education notified the board that it had been decided not to "purchase or lease the property at Kelburn (surrendered by the trustees M. Kennedy estate) for the purposes of a training college or hostel. A request had been received from the Registrar, Victoria University College, pointing out that the property was eminently suitable as a site for the purpose of building a hostel for college students, asking,the board to delay proceedings in order that the council may be able to acquire the property. It was considered that as the property had been lying idle since December 19th last, the surveyor should proceed with the proposed subdivision. A reply to this effect has been forwarded to the Registrar.
