SPEEDING
PAST TRAM LIKE A FLASH!
Yesterday about 1 _ o’clock a tramcar was proceeding round the curve of the Basin Reserve, when a young man literally flew by on a motorcycle. He leaned over the machine in a grotesque attitude to retain the balance as he turned the bend in front of the College gates at a speed moderately estimated at 25 miles an hour. Conductor and passengers put their heads out to catch sight of him, but as the tram turned into Adelaide road the cycle was disappearing past John street at the other end of the straight run. There was a fair amount of traffic about, wheeled and pedestrian, and had hoys been flocking into school or college there would probably have been a serious accident by such reckless speeding.
