OPERA HOUSE NEXT FRIDAY

Following their previous fine companies is the latest- combination of international vaudeville stars from J. C. Williamson theatres in Sydney and Melbourne. The newcomers commence a season at the Grand Opera House next Monday, May 7th. Niobe, the mermaid and water wonder, a notable figure in the American aquatic circles, heads' the list of attractions of which the company is comprised. Her performance is said to be of the sensational order as, while submerged in her glass tank of water on the st&ige in full view# of the audience, she eats, drinks, sews, writes, talks, sings, and juggles, and does many other remarkable things. Rupert Haskell, the clever London comedian, is assisted by Elsie Day, who hats just finished a starring engagement with the last J. C. Williamson pantomime in Melbourne. An other notable engagement is that of the Flemings, two magnificent specimene of manhood, who will give alabastevliko reproductions Of famous statuary and display their acrobatic prowess. Walter Nilsson, riding a unicycle, figures prominently. From the Paris Montmartre comes Odette Delage, Apache violiniste. Francois will present a remarkable series of equilibristic feats on a giant globe. Dorothy Browne with her piano-accordion is certain of a warm reception. Fresh from their London successes are Jones and Raines, the funny Welshman and his attractive partner. From the East, there is Madamo Hnrmston and her troupe of educated cockatoos.. A stage crowded with gay plumaged birds of every size and colour which perform an astonishing routine of tricks makes tiiis act ono of the most interesting in tho vaudevillo world to-day.

A specially selected orchestra, and tho latest staging with brilliant lighting effect for the presentation of the show, make tho coming company look as being the best yet sent to tho Dominion from J. C. Williamson theatres in Sydney and Melbourne. . The combination is at present showing to packed houses at Auckland, where the tour has commenced. The* box plans for the Wellington season open next Wednesday at the Bristol.
