SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY
The much-looked-for Tuesday’s concert (at which Mrs E. Pollock was hostess) was very .much enjoyed by the seafaring guests, who never seemed to tire in their rousing applause and demands for encores. The performers were: Mesdames Pollock and Millwnrd, the Misses llili and Roberts, and Messrs Loekycr, Price,. Dorrinn, Johnson, anil McKenztu Mrs Pollock and Miss Hill were at the piano. "Which is Best?” was Mr Moore’s subject in relation to temperance. After thought men added their names to the pledge-book. The competitions aroused tho men to effort that led to prizes going to the ships in port. The gifts were presented by Mrs W. Campbell.
