UNION LEADER’S MOTOR-CAR

Joseph Hall, financial secretary of tbe Yorkshire Miners’ Association, was the recipient of a £SOO car from an employer. The gift has raised a sharp controversy, recalling that over the gift of a car to Mr Ramsay MacDonald, whether a trade union leader should accept a present from an employer. Hall says: “The donor knows that I cannot be induced to sell my fellow workers. Nevertheless I am returning the car, to prevent misunderstanding."
